Volunteer Gets Recognition at BCHS

Christine Heyman has a big heart. She has been volunteering at the Bradford County Humane Society for over a year socializing cats and working at various BCHS events.

"I love spending time with the cats at BCHS and seeing all of their different personalities. They are so fun to play with and get them socialized to hopefully find them a home more quickly," states Heyman. "Being a volunteer is a very calming experience and very rewarding," she adds.

Being a volunteer at an animal shelter is a very important job. After completing an orientation class where participants get to learn the ins and outs of the shelter and learn how to properly walk dogs, volunteers are able to come to the shelter during normal operating hours.

"The staff at BCHS are so nice and helpful," states Heyman. She also enjoys working events for BCHS. She plans on helping at an upcoming event at the Grovedale Winery in Wyalusing called, "Pints for Pups" on Friday, September 16th from 6-10 pm.

"We are so thankful for Christine's volunteerism at the shelter. We have many volunteers that are dedicated to helping our animals whether it be at the shelter, or helping at events. We thank all of you", stated Jennifer L. Spencer, BCHS Executive Director.
