Percy is a happy and bouncy young adult neutered male Am Staff mix who has been at BCHS since March. He is playful and full of energy and likes people.
Percy is a diamond in the rough - he is smart and with some training he will make an excellent companion. He is close to being house trained, so it would not take much to make him reliably trained. He has calmed down a lot since being neutered. He needs a home with no dogs, cats, or small children. He is medium to large in size.
Percy is a happy, loving, playful boy. He is an outgoing dog who likes everyone. Please help us find him a good home!

Featured Pet: Harriet
Harriet is our longest term resident and has been at BCHS for 1.5 years. Please help us find her a home!
Harriet is a pretty adult spayed female cat with lovely green eyes. She is a mellow, quiet cat who enjoys being petted but is not fond of being held unless she decides to jump on your lap. She would be an excellent companion for someone who works long hours - she likes to be sociable when she is in the mood, but would also not mind being left alone for long periods of time. She is a fastidiously clean cat.
Harriet was very stressed when she first arrived in March of 2011. For the first few months she did not get along with other cats and was not very sociable. She has been living in our free roam cat room since June of 2011 and now tolerates other cats as long as they don't go our of their way to annoy her. However, she would be happiest in a home with no other cats and no small children. She has tested negative for feline leukemia and had her rabies shot.
Harriet would love a quiet home with a nice cat stand to curl up in. She can often be found snoozing on one of the fuzzy perches in the cat room. If you go in and sit down, she just might decide to jump on your lap for a visit.

Featured Pet: Rock
Rock is a very large older adult neutered male mixed breed dog, maybe part Lab and Shepherd. He is very quiet, behaves great on a leash and appears to be house trained. Rock is a strong-willed dog who needs an experienced handler. He is looking for a nice retirement home with no cats, dogs, or small children.
Rock has become much more sociable with people since being at the shelter. He knows the routine of going out to the back yard and will stick with his person without a leash.
He also comes when called, as you can see in his Petfinder video clip.

Fall Rabies Clinic Set For October 6
The Bradford County Humane Society and the Athens Animal Hospital have once again teamed up to provide a low cost Rabies Clinic for the local community.
On Saturday, October 6th from 10am -Noon people may bring their leashed dogs or cats in crates to the Athens Township Building on the corner of Elmira and Herrick Avenue in Athens. Patrons must also bring the pets' current rabies shot record.
The cost for the rabies vaccination is only $5.00.
"It is extremely important for animals to have a current rabies shot. Even if you think your cat is only an inside cat, or your dog would never come into contact with the rabies virus, you could be wrong. There has been some incidents of various wildlife being contaminated with rabies. The last thing you would want is to put your animals' life or your own life in danger, by your pet possibly contracting the rabies virus," states Jennifer L. Spencer, BCHS Executive Director.

Featured Pet: Kenny
Kenny is an adult neutered male hound mix who has been at BCHS since
December. He was very scared when he first arrived and took a few weeks to
warm up with the staff. Kenny is still wary of strangers. With familiar
people, Kenny is a happy, bouncy, friendly, energetic dog. He has worked
with our trainer and is great on a leash and knows "sit". Kenny barks at
strangers, so he would be a good watchdog. He appears to be house trained.
Kenny is a great dog looking for someone to bond with.
